Essay

The event I planned for Bailey and Caden was a nontraditional informal outdoor wedding ceremony and reception for 75 of their friends and family. I wanted to incorporate their love for the outdoors and the natural beauty of the fall season in West Virginia. The color scheme was based on the fall season colors of deep greens, navy blue, burnt oranges, maroon/burgundy, and some brown tones. The wedding was held on a fall day in the evening of October because that is the favorite season for the couple.

The event was held at the Confluence Resort because they provided the best views of the West Virginia landscape, accommodations for the out of town guests and wedding party and had enough space to comfortably entertain 75 guest. Also, because of the outdoor setting, it was easy to incorporate certain elements like camping, DIY arts and crafts, lanterns, and the fall leaves to create a warm love filled atmosphere. Autumn leaves were intertwined with many elements of the wedding including the save-the-dates, invitations, thank you notes, and décor.

The budget was very important to the couple so to help with expenses many DIY projects were used such as the games that were played at the reception, the smores kit party favors, the food that was used at cocktail hour and some at the reception and the gifts that were given to the bridesmaids. Also, to help the budget the attire for the wedding party was simple and unconventional with the bride opting for a 2-piece gown. Overall, the event reflected the personality of the couple with the DIY elements, out of the box entertainment, and outdoor setting.
